Who are we?

Established through the collaborative efforts of ARN Québec, Axelys, CQDM, and Montréal InVivo, AReNA aims to unite and champion Quebec’s leading players in the RNA therapy sector.

The AReNA website will be updated during the summer of 2024 to feature an overview of the RNA therapy industry and highlight key events not to be missed in this field.

Mobilizing Project

On April 30th, Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy (MEIE) of the Quebec government, announced a $20.3 million funding commitment from the MEIE to support a mobilizing project with a total value of nearly $40 million. This initiative aims to develop a new industrial sector focused on RNA-based therapies. CQDM was mandated by the MEIE to coordinate this mobilizing project, which encompasses five strategic initiatives, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies and unique expertise in Quebec.

RNA-specific training: the Factory School

The final part of the mobilization project is being piloted by the Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences (CASTL). This initiative focuses on advanced technical training to meet the growing demand for specialist skills in the biomanufacturing of RNA therapies.

Service platforms for the development of RNA therapies

This platform, headed by the IRCM, Sherbrooke University and McGill University, aims to offer essential biomanufacturing services in RNA therapies, thus improving production and development capacities in Quebec.

Promoting university research and entrepreneurship

This initiative, led by Axelys, aims to promote entrepreneurship in RNA therapies by boosting innovation and supporting startups in the sector. A specialized team in the field, dedicated to collaborating with the RNA research community in all public research institutions, does this.

Funding of highly promising RNA-based technologies through the CELLULE

The CELLULE facilitates the advancement and commercialization of promising RNA technologies addressing industrial demands. This collaborative initiative unites renowned partners such as Axelys, CQDM, Fonds de recherche du Québec, Génome Québec and Médicament Québec and acts as an accelerator for transitioning innovations from the laboratory to attracting significant private capital.

Creation of AReNA and the impact on Quebec’s RNA Sector

A cornerstone of our efforts is the inauguration of AReNA, Quebec’s RNA Hub, dedicated to enhancing visibility, influence, promotion, and vibrant exchanges within the RNA sector. AReNA will unite key stakeholders to drive innovation and foster improved connectivity across the industry.
